3 Must-Attend Sport Management Conferences

Sports Management Conferences are not only a great networking opportunity but they give the chance to “meet and greet” with people working in the highest levels of professional sports.

Conferences give you a chance to learn about multiple careers in sports and mingle with sports professionals from all over the sporting world.

Sports Management Conferences allow you to network face to face with:

  • Directors of Player Personnel
  • Executive Scouts
  • Former professional athletes
  • General Managers
  • Head coaches
  • Sports agents
  • Sports writers

In addition, numerous Sports Management Conferences take place during a major sporting event which not only increases opportunities to network but gives you a chance to see the event as well.

Some conferences even offer college students transferable credits for attending the conference.

Of course there is always a fee to attend but the knowledge, networking and opportunities you receive in return is more than worth it.

Conference fees usually run anywhere from $50.00-$500.00 depending on the location and the length of the event.

I have listed three Sports Management Conferences which I believe are a “Must” attend if you are seriously considering a career in Sports Management, are already working on your sports management degree, or have already graduated and have hit the streets.

One conference that is worth mentioning for future reference is the The Sports Industry Networking and Career (SINC) Conference. It has been labeled the leading sports career conference which hosts some of the biggest names in the sports business and has set the bar for education, networking and placement in the sports industry.

Attendees are given access to sports business executives, who provide insight and advice on the latest trends in the sports business.

However, it is being held February 10-11, 2012 at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. Since it starts today and is also sold out I won’t go into too much detail but there is always next year! Make a note of it now!

Fee for this year’s conference were $185 before January 7, 2012 and $230 on or after January 7, 2012.

You can find out more information Here.

The NFL is America’s favorite sport league and this conference is being held during the NFL Combine on Friday and Saturday, February 24th and 25th, 2012 in Downtown Indianapolis at the Hyatt Regency.

More than 2,500 coaches, team owners and more than 220 national journalists congregate to Indianapolis for seven days to meet and work out athletes hoping to be drafted by an NFL team.

A variety of topics will be covered including:

  • Athletic directors
  • Different level sports management
  • Draft analysis
  • Endorsement deals
  • Player personnel
  • Promotions
  • Salary caps
  • Scouting
  • Sports administration
  • Sports agents
  • Sports marketing

General Admission is $300.00 but college students and faculty is $250.00. This does not include lodging. You can find out more information and make reservations Here.

The 2012 Conference of the North American Society for Sport Management will be held May 22-26 in Seattle, Washington.
